Tencent has revealed that it will be releasing two new mobile games based on the PC smash-hit PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in partnership with developer PUBG Corporation.

The first game is being developed by Tencent's own Timi studio, while the second will be handled by Lightspeed & Quantum Studios. Both games will feature PUBG staples such as an enormous map and large player counts.

Timi's game differentiates itself from the formula by adding naval battles, which will include enormous battleships. The trailer also suggests it will focus more on fast-paced action than the original game.

Lightspeed & Quantum Studios' version will be more like traditional PUBG. It appears to be a slower, more tense experience entirely focused on land-based combat.

Both games are being developed in Unreal Engine 4. Release dates have not yet been revealed, but Tencent is currently running pre-registration campaigns for both games. Each has cleared at least one million registrations.

Tencent announced plans to launch PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on mobile in late November 2017. NetEase has already beaten it to market with three battle royale games on mobile, though none of them currently feature any kind of monetisation.
