Rewarded mobile ad platform Tapjoy has added two new features to its advertising offerwall to increase both engagement and revenues.
The first feature, dubbed, Custom Exchange Rates, allows developers to set different levels of rewards for different types of users. This could be used to offer higher rewards to players who have been with the game longer, and need more resources to continue playing.
The second feature is Permanent Currency Sales, which give players the chance to earn more in-game rewards from engaging with ads for a limited time. This could be used to re-engage users about to churn.
"If you look at some of the most savvy developers in the freemium space, you’ll see that they're monetizing through both video and offerwall," said Tapjoy SVP of developer relations Ben Chen.
“Your most engaged users are looking for premium rewards to help them progress through the game, which offerwall helps them unlock. As a developer, you win by having both integrated."
Tapjoy recently studied player habits during the holiday season, finding that 57% of mobile gamers are more likely to watch a rewarded video ad during the holidays. 80% of people also claimed they play games more often during the holiday season.
