Next Games soft-launches location-based AR game The Walking Dead: Our World

The Walking Dead: No Man's Land developer Next Games has soft-launched its upcoming AR-enabled game using the same license called The Walking Dead: Our World.

The game is currently available on Android in the Philippines. It was originally soft-launched on January 31st 2018.

Our World sees players travelling to real-world locations to fight zombies on their phones. Characters from the TV show can be collected and used in battle, along with weapons and other resources.

Shuffling along

Next Games originally announced the game back in August 2017. CMO Saara Bergström told us in a later interview that "we don’t want to create something that feels like a slapped-on gimmick or do AR just for the sake of it."

The developer is also working on a game using the Blade Runner 2049 license. Aside from the initial announcement and teaser image in June 2017, there has been no information on the game.

As it looks to the future, Next Games has admitted to allowing its flagship title No Man's Land suffer. The developer saw DAUs and ARPDAUs fall in 2017 as it shifted staff away from the game to focus on new titles.
