Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and Hoshi no Dragon Quest help grow Square Enix profits to $204 million

Square Enix has posted its financials for its Q3 FY18 for the nine months ending December 31st 2017.

The company posted revenues of $1.72 billion for the period, down just 1% year-on-year. However, profits grew 30.9% year-on-year to $204.1 million for the period.

Its Digital Entertainment segment, which includes its mobile games, saw revenues of $1.31 billion for the period, down 1.8% year-on-year. The segment's operating income grew by 66.9% year-on-year to $332.5 million.

Steady business

Nothing much changed in Square Enix's mobile business, with Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Hoshi no Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest Monsters Super Light, and Kingdom Hearts Union X continuing to be top performers. It also saw an increase in revenues from its royalty income.

Notably, the company did not mention recent release Dragon Quest Rivals. The game had cleared seven million downloads in its first five days of release back in November 2017.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius surpassed 20 million downloads worldwide in May 2017. The game celebrated its first birthday shortly after, with Square Enix hosting "Fan Festa" events around the world to thank players.
