IGDA appoints Jen MacLean as its new permanent executive director

The International Game Developers Association has appointed Jen MacLean as its new executive director four months after she took over the organisation on an interim basis.

MacLean was previously the managing director of the IGDA Foundation before taking on the interim role. She was also the CEO of 38 Studios and president of StoryArc Media and has been in the games industry for over 20 years.

The IGDA has also brought on Kongregate CEO Emily Greer and Big Huge Games lead producer Zoe Bell onto its board of directors. Finnish games consultant Vesa Raudasoja has been promoted to vice-chair.

Powerful vision

"Jen MacLean has a powerful vision for the IGDA and what it can do to make a difference in the lives of its members all over the globe," said IGDA board of directors chair David Stelzer.

"Bolstered by Vesa's dedication to the international community, Emily's experience in growing a successful business and providing support to independent developers, and Zoe's passion for making game development sustainable for families, Jen will lead the IGDA as it supports game developers around the world in improving their personal and professional lives."

MacLean took over from previous interim executive director Trent Oster in September 2017. Oster had stepped into the role after previous executive director Kate Edwards departed the organisation.
