Buried Signal has won out in the debut game category with its interactive puzzle game Gorogoa at the 14th Annual British Academy Games Awards.
The awards ceremony was held at the Tobacco Dock in London on April 12th. In total 17 awards were handed out on the night covering various aspects of the games industry.
Gorogoa was also up for awards in the Artistic Achievement, Game Innovation, Mobile Game and Original Property categories.
The iOS title blends a unique visual design with both storytelling and traditional puzzle elements and was published by film studio Annapurna Pictures’ games publishing arm Annapurna Interactive.
Hole in one
Playdemic was also on hand to pick up an award and won out in the Mobile Games category with its hit casual golfing game Golf Clash. The title was previously named Game of the Year at the Mobile Games Awards 2018.
Elsewhere, Pixel Hunt’s text-based narrative title Bury Me, My Love also nominations in the Game Beyond Entertainment and Mobile Games category.
In a recent interview with PocketGamer.Biz, Pixel Hunt CEO Florent Maurin said of the award nomination: “it’s great for the team.
“Everybody’s been working super hard on BMML, and I’ve tried to tell them how much I appreciated that, but I think praises are more powerful when they come from outside – particularly when it’s from seasoned professionals.”
