Tech behemoth Apple is working on making iOS apps portable to MacOS by updating its UIKit framework to work on MacOS.

According to The Verge, Apple showed off versions of iOS apps News and Stocks running on the new version of MacOS 10.14, also known as Mojave.

It was also revealed during Apple’s keynote at WWDC that the cross-platform porting is done by adding elements of iOS’s UIKit frameworks directly into macOS. This is also used in conjunction with the existing AppKit framework used on the desktop.

While the cross-platform porting functionality is still in development, Apple has marked 2019 for release.
