Idle Miner Tycoon dev Fluffy Fairy renames to Kolibri Games

Idle Miner Tycoon developer Fluffy Fairy has renamed to Kolibri Games in a move it says helps reflect the company’s growth and status as a “serious contender” in the industry.

The Berlin studio was formed just two years ago and has quickly found success with its titles Idle Miner Tycoon and follow-up Idle Factory Tycoon. Those two games have gone on to rack up more than 50 million downloads.

The company now employs over 80 staff and reports eight-figure revenues.

Its new name Kolibri is the German word for hummingbird, which it says represents being “agile and mobile”.

"Serious contender"

“Fluffy Fairy Games was an ideal name for the takeoff,” read a statement from the company in a Medium post.

“The almost emblematically funny and friendly name, loved by employees and players alike, expressed the company’s aspiration to make games for absolutely everyone.

“Fast-forward two years and Fluffy Fairy Games, now with eight-figure revenues and over 80 employees, needs a new name - one that better reflects its essence and underlines its status as a serious contender in the gaming industry.”
