Gamevil sees total iOS and Android downloads rise to over 200 million

Also hires Nexon exec to further drive US operations

Gamevil sees total iOS and Android downloads rise to over 200 million
It announced 100 million game downloads in March 2012, and now Korean publisher Gamevil has doubled its tally.

Driven by expansion in its publishing business - including the release of 40 titles from external developers, as encouraged by its $20 million fund - Gamevil has revealed it's done 200 million downloads across iOS and Android.

Its most recent success has been Punch Hero, which clocked up more than five million Android downloads.

This activity has also been reflected in the company's financials, with Q3 sales up 66 percent to around $15 million.

US boost

And keen to ensure this success continues, Gamevil has hired Nexon Korea's CEO Won Il Sue.

He will take the role of SVP Gamevil USA, leading corporate development and publishing activity.

"I feel very lucky to be part of this company that has seen such extraordinary growth," stated Won Il Sue.

"It's not only one of the top mobile game publishers in the world, but with the numerous years of experience the company has had in the mobile space, it is an industry leader.

"I want to bring my online gaming experience and knowledge to this industry and work with Gamevil to make it even bigger and better."
