Grand Cru poaches Wooga's Thorbjorn Warin to serve as business director
Social specialist Grand Cru has appointed former Wooga man Thorbjörn Warin to serve as the studio's marketing and business development director.

It's claimed Warin will be tasked with overseeing user acquisition, business development, localisation and both community management and customer care on the firm's forthcoming mobile social release The Supernauts.

Grand ambitions

"To join the Grand Cru team is to join one of the most exciting gaming start-ups in Europe, if not the world," said Warin of his appointment.

"It took all of two minutes playing The Supernauts to recognise that Grand Cru’s first game has a winning formula. I'm eager to begin lending my expertise in marketing and business development to help the game and the company to reach its full potential."
The Supernauts is an ambitious project for Grand Cru, bringing together mobile and Facebook play in a 3D user-generated world under one 'seamless log in'.

Superstar for Supernauts

In the view of the Finnish studio itself, which plans to launch The Supernauts later in 2012, Warin will be crucial to ensuring the successful roll out of the game.

"Adding Thorbjörn to head up Grand Cru's marketing and business development is the next critical step in launching The Supernauts," added CEO Markus Pasula.

"We already have a superior product and technology development team; Thorbjörn's experience in the social and mobile games business is the next crucial step in helping turn The Supernauts into a success for our company and partners."

Warin's appointment comes two months after the Helsinki-based studio closed a $2 million strong funding round.
