Not just tied to A5

Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition will launch on 'single core iOS devices in the future', confirms Rockstar
One of the downsides of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition announcement – for iPhone 4 owners at least - was that its iOS release was to be limited to A5 equipped devices only.

It appeared Apple's talk of iPhone 4S's extra processing power serving up seven times the graphical grunt wasn't just PR speak – despite being little over a year old, the best selling iPhone to date was set to miss out.

Or not. In an update to the studio's initial announcement, Rockstar has claimed it is looking to support other devices in the future: GTA III won't just be used to push new hardware.

Short and sharp, the studio informed Kotaku it will launch Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary on "single core iOS devices in the future".

No specific devices or dates have been mentioned, but it's likely A4 equipped devices – iPhone 4, original iPad and the 4th generation iPod touch – will benefit from a return trip to Libery City at some point in the future.
Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary isn't an iOS exclusive, however.

The developer has already announced support for a number of Android handsets, including Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2.

Android powered tablets will also get in on the action, including the Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
