Mo'Minis announces mobile gamemaking competition
Drag-and-drop system meets $11,000 in prizes
 Product: Mo'Minis Studio
 Manufacturer: Mo'Minis
by Jon Jordan
There are now a number of solutions for non-coders who want to make mobile and iPhone games.

One such as Mo'Minis Studio: a free Windows XP and Vista-based drag-and-drop development system that lets you focus on game design and core logic, while ensuring your masterpiece will work on as many different handsets as possible - although not yet iPhone or Android.

To encourage people to try out the system, it's holding one of its regular GameCast competitions.

This is based around sets of 3 mobile games, which are linked by a shared theme. These could be three versions of the same game, each with a twist, or 3 different games with a common link.

The submission period runs from 1st January 2010 to the 25th, with voting via the internet and from a selected panel of judges determining a group of 10 finalists.

Each of these will receive $100 and additional time to improve and polish their games. The finished products will be released and another vote will determine the winners.

All finalists (and some non-finalist standouts) will then have their creations distributed worldwide via Mo'Minis distribution network, and will receive revenues from sales.

In total, there's over $11,000 in cash and prizes available.

To find out more, head over the Mo'Minis' website.
