How many New Year's Resolutions have already been broken?

Of course, we hope you're still hanging onto your plans for health and success in 2014.

And to help you hone your professional life as the working year starts again, here are 15 predictions of key trends that might be happening over the next 12 months.

Crystal balls

We sourced our predictions at Game Connection Europe 2013, which was held in Paris in early December.

Talking to a range of industry players, their views ranged from the rise of the markets in China and Brazil, to much more pressure on indie developers, combined with the power of publishers, not to mention the potential for second screen gaming and video sharing.

Perhaps the most specific prediction, however, came from Applifier CEO Jussi Laakkonen who said that he expected to see a couple of titles 'do a Puzzle & Dragons and generate $1 billion in revenue.

'They will likely be midcore games', he added.
