Steel Media hires Kristan Reed as Pocket Gamer editor-in-chief
Steel Media, purveyor of this fine website which you are currently perusing, has announced the hire of Kristan Reed to the position of Pocket Gamer editor-in-chief.

Reed brings with him a wealth of experience to his new role, having completed stints as editor at both Computer Trade Weekly (the precursor to MCV), and Eurogamer.

"Joining one of the most respected, authoritative teams around is an honour, and it's the kind of challenge that doesn't come around very often," said Reed.

"The creative energy and ambition within the handheld gaming sector makes it an exciting place to be, and I'm looking forward to helping the team to take the Pocket Gamer sites to the next level."

The next level

Steel Media MD Chris James highlighted Reed's hiring as a sign of things to come in 2012.

"I'm thrilled to welcome someone of Kristan's stature and experience to boost what is an already strong team," James said.

"This latest hire, coupled with that of What Mobile editor Jonathan Morris and the return of ex-Develop editor Owain Bennallack underlines both our ambition and our commitment to editorial excellence across consumer and b2b sites in the mobile games market.

"We have a lot more planned for 2012, too, so definitely watch this space!"

As well as PocketGamer.co.uk and PocketGamer.biz, Steel Media operates AppSpy, Quality Index, Free App Alliance and the Smartphone Alliance advertising network.
