Sony Mobile adds WildTangent Games service to Xperia smartphone homescreens
Integrated with Sony's own discovery app
WildTangent has announced an expansion of its partnership with Sony Mobile that will see games added to the Sony Select discovery app on certain Xperia smartphones.
The two companies have an existing partnership that dates back to 2011, and the WildTangent service already comes preinstalled on certain Vaio PCs and Sony tablets.
The new arrangement will see WildTangent's offering – which enables users to rent or buy games from its curated selection – integrated with Sony's own discovery app.
Xperia users who register with the WildTangent service will receive free WildCoins to spend on renting and buying games, which update without requiring the user to visit an app store.
"Sony knows gamers better than anyone and this partnership marks a significant new chapter for us. Our games will now be available to a huge number of people on premium Sony devices," explained WildTangent senior VP Sean Vanderdasson.
"Our games service delivers the best games seamlessly to users so that we are ready to play when they are. S
"Sony's new Xperia devices are fantastic products and this is the perfect opportunity to bring our service to more mobile game players around the world."
One such device is Sony's flagship Xperia Z. The Android smartphone is out now in Japan, and due to launch in other key territories within the next few weeks – with WildTangent games pre-installed.
