![]() It's exactly the same as it is on PC. Either you made a mistake removing it from your Windows 8, or you won't like it on a phone/tablet either. :)

![]() Ah fair does...Still really want to try it on a touch screen. It looks incredibly intuitive come to phones/tablets. Tempted to grab a 920 when I upgrade...

![]() See, for you the 'pointless' additions are what for others, such as me, made the purchase essential. I wouldn't have got Windows 8 without Metro.

![]() Possibly but the cost of Windows 8 is incredibly low compared to what Windows 7 was at release so it possibly balances out.
Really? It always seemed kind of gimped compared to other tablets on the market. I was really into the Surface but have found the price to be too much of a barrier. Maybe if I could get my hands on one to try it out.... I really love Windows 8. It's much snappier, quicker and much better optimized. This is after I've modded it to work pretty much the same as W7. I think much of the backlash has come from the seemingly "pointless" additions in W8, which is arguably down to W7 being so god damn great. I reckon W7 will certainly be the new XP. So many will just always stick with 7! I think it's an incredibly interesting time for MS considering they don't quite have the dominance they've always had. Joined:

![]() Ben - Actually, considering the state of the economy now compared to Windows 7, even managing to keep pace with it is mightily impressive.
Furthermore, Surface RT has been a sell out - they're increasing production - and Metro is crucial to Microsoft's future: The only reason they can sell Windows 8 for £50 is because the main bulk of cash, as Apple has proved, comes from the selling of software. That's where Windows' future lies. (That said, you can skip the Metro UI with one click, and because it's quicker to start up, you can be on Windows 8's desktop far quicker than you can Windows 7's.) ![]() They've pushed much harder with this OS than any other. I feel a "similar trajectory" to W7 is a bit disappointing. Probably why Steve Ballmer looked like a dementor had a go at him before he came on for his Qualcomm appearance.
It's a really great OS for tablets and phones. I think they really shot themselves in their foot by not sticking to a more traditional style with the desktop stuff. If they'd just whacked the start button in their and let you skip the not-metro stuff then uptake would have been much much higher. As it stands, I can see support for W8 dwindling and maybe a price cut for the surface RT. Joined:

![]() The only number I see here, sadly, is that's less than two app downloads per device.
