I can attest to the power of an Apple feature. Although not a game, ITGO - Interval Trainer GO
http://idek.net/hic
my Health and Fitness App, was chosen as an Apple Staff Favorite and featured for 3 weeks in the US store so it was front page for two weeks and second page for a week.
I saw a huge increase in sales during this time. Unfortunately for me ITGO is a niche App, Smartphone>Health and Fitness>Cardio Exercise>Interval Training etc.. So each time the subset gets smaller. It's much bigger sales with games which have a wider customer base.
I have done all of the traditional marketing techniques and was selling but this really took the daily sales up.
I'm hoping to have the same experience with my first game Gorilla Monkey Crunch
http://idek.net/hia
i.e. to have the game featured by Apple. But time will tell..
