Dashy Crashy introduces new live events and IAP to expand on experimental monetisation design

Dashy Crashy developer Dumpling Design is kicking off a series of live events with a new "dinosaur update" alongside a new approach to offering a "premium" version of the game.

The update gives players a young dinosaur to use in place of the usual vehicle. A bonus objective has been added requiring players to eat meat using the dinosaur, and if enough is eaten, players can keep the dinosaur for future play at no extra cost.

Further content updates are also planned throughout 2017, though the studio is not sure what form these will take just yet. It will either continue with live events, release more conventional content packs, or a mixture of both depending on how the "dinosaur update" is received.

Get lucky

Dumpling has also added a new IAP called the Lucky Cat, a $0.99 item which removes duplicate item unlocks. The addition is said to scratch a "console itch" for the studio.

"Essentially this creates the 'premium version' of Dashy Crashy we would sell if the $0.99 route were still viable for this genre; replacing F2P trappings with honest-to-goodness progression and unlocking, supplemented with rewarded video time-savers, should players choose to opt in to them," said Dumping co-founder Travis Ryan.

Dashy Crashy received a huge overhaul earlier in 2017 as part of a "Turbo" update which introduced car rentals from rewarded video advertising. At the time, Ryan said that the monetisation was "likely to evolve again" as the team continued to experiment.
