To give our readers better insight into the global mobile games industry, we’ve teamed up with market data firm Sensor Tower to bring you exclusive weekly charts from key countries.
These rank games by free downloads, paid downloads and the top grossers across the App Store and Google Play. Each week we’ll be covering the US, Great Britain and Ireland, and China (iOS only) markets.
This week's charts cover the period from April 22nd to 28th.
US Charts
Traffic Run from Geisha Tokyo has raced to the top of the US charts for free downloads across both the App Store and Google Play. Popcore Games’ Folding Blocks also cracked the top 10 on both charts at fourth on iOS and eighth on Android.
Only one new entrant for paid installs entered the top 10 rankings, with Fabled Game’s Pirates Outlaws sneaking in at ninth on Google Play.
Roblox has been on the rise for a couple of weeks and has now made it to first position for iOS, though it didn’t even register in the Google Play top 10.
King’s Candy Crush Saga meanwhile regained top spot from Niantic’s Pokemon Go on Android.
Great Britain and Ireland Charts
After SayGames’ Clean Road swept up first place across both the British and Ireland charts during the week of April 15th, Traffic Run has now messed up its victory by claiming top spot - cementing a stellar debut for the Geisha Tokyo title.
Popcore Games had a week to remember too, thanks to Folding Blocks ranking second on the App Store and fifth on Google Play.
There was little movement when it came to the top grossers, as Moon Active’s Coin Master resisted all attempts to dethrone its prime position. WB Games’ Game of Thrones re-entered the iOS charts at 10th, likely due to finale series of the hit show airing.
China charts (iOS only)
In China, Drift Race 3D from Joyfort clawed back first place after Tencent’s Let’s Hunt Monsters claimed the spot for free downloads last week.
It wasn’t all bad news for Tencent however, as Ever Adventure made its debut at third while four other titles from the corporation remained in the top 10.
The top four grossing titles remained unchanged with Tencent again heavily dominating, courtesy of Honor of Kings and Perfect World.
