Nexon signs again; grabs rights to ex-Phenomic devs first mobile strategy title

Continuing its drive to suck up western development talent - Rumble, Shiver, Turbo, SocialSpiel etc - Korean F2P publisher Nexon has signed another publishing deal.

This one is with German start-up Envision Entertainment.

Despite being a start-up working on its debut title, Envision has industry nous as the bulk of its staff come from Phenomic Game Development.

The PC RTS specialist, best known for SpellForce, was bought by EA, then working on the likes of Lord of Ultima and C&C: Tiberium Alliances before being shut down in 2013.

Our lips are sealed

As for any more details about the deal, they are as-yet hard to come by.

The deal is for the global publishing rights for Envision's forthcoming F2P mobile strategy game that's expected sometime in 2015.

"As a studio of veterans, we are not in the game to test the water," said Dirk Ringe, Envision's CEO.

"We want to make a splash with our next project, and Nexon is the perfect match for that. They have excellent personnel, a deep understanding of free-to-play, and broad international reach."
