SkyMobi poaches Glu Mobile China's GM to run its game operations

Chinese app store and app publisher SkyMobi is strengthening its game publishing activities.

It's appointed Gio Zhang to the role of SVP of game operations.

He was previously GM of Glu Mobile's China business and prior to that was GM of Gameloft's China business.

At SkyMobi, he will be responsible for the execution of the company's mobile game strategy, and assume a lead role in expanding its sourcing, distribution, marketing and M&A activities in overseas markets, notably the US, South Korea and Japan.

He's a player

"Gio is a highly regarded and respected veteran in China's fast-growing mobile gaming industry. He brings with him years of experience in leading international gaming companies in developing and expanding their businesses successfully in Asia," said SkyMobi CEO Michael Tao Song.

"His robust experience in localization and distribution, coupled with his vast network and expertise in the global mobile game industry will be a tremendous asset for SkyMobi, as we enrich our game portfolio and extend our domestic and overseas sourcing and distribution capabilities."
