Gumi hires ex-EA Sports Japan exec to head European push

It's just announced it's filing to IPO, and opened a studio in Vancouver, but there's plenty more activity happening with Gumi Inc.

The Japanese publisher, which is best known for F2P RPG Brave Frontier, has announced that ex-EA and Playfish executive Are Mack Growen has been appointed as its VP and regional head of European region.

Most recently, Growen was EA's GM of Asia Development at EA Sports Japan.

Gumi is currently setting up studios in Stockholm, Sweden and Kiev, Ukraine.

New location

"Gumi is a fast-growth company in a rapidly changing industry, and Are brings a wealth of relevant industry experience to our mission of leading the future of global game development and publishing," said CEO Hironao Kunimitsu.

"We are thrilled to welcome him to our growing company."

"Gumi is dedicated to creating content and experiences specifically designed for players in key regions. I look forward to working with the gumi team and deploying a global development strategy for our market leading games," Growen added.
