Video: Best practices for making and marketing casual games

Martine Spaans, founder of Tamalaki, gave a talk at Pocket Gamer Connects Bangalore 2015 about making and marketing casual games.

When it comes to casual games, Spaans has a very clear idea of who to target, saying "if we have to form a persona, it's kind of the housewives audience."

 Younger gamers in older bodies

The housewife audience don't see themselves as gamers, but will play games for long periods of time. They're also "relatively young gamers", as they haven't grown up with consoles and therefore don't have experience with controllers and "core games".

But developers shouldn't patronise this audience. As Spaans says, "try to treat them for what they like and not for what they are."
