NetEase to publish Dawn of Steel in China

German publisher Flaregames has signed a deal to bring its mobile mech RTS Dawn of Steel to China.

Developed by US studio Superweapon, the game will be published by NetEase in 2016.

Best known for operating Blizzard's Hearthstone in China, NetEase has also had a good 2015 with the mobile version of its MMOG Fantasy Westward Journey being a #1 iOS grossing game in China.

So far, only available on iOS, Dawn of Steel will also be released for Android and Windows early next year.

A critical hit - our IAP Inspector calling its "gameplay a refreshing change for mobile strategy" - it's yet to light up western top grossing charts, however.

"We hand-pick our publishing portfolio, selecting only games of outstanding quality and huge commercial potential," said NetEase VP Ethan Wang.

"We believe we have found such a gem in Dawn of Steel and look forward to working with the great Flaregames team on this game."
