Monster Hunter Explore surpasses 3 million downloads

Worldwide launch expected sometime this year

Monster Hunter Explore surpasses 3 million downloads

Capcom's mobile take on its massive Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter Explore, has surpassed 3 million downloads across Android and iOS since launching in September 2015.

The game has so far only been released in Japan, although it is currently soft-launched in Canada.

Breaking through

The news was reported in Capcom's financial report for Q1 2016, which states that this download figure indicates "signs of a breakthrough in the current situation of the mobile contents segment."

The game itself is a simplified version of traditional Monster Hunter games, designed to be played with one hand in portrait mode.

There's no news on when a worldwide release is due, but if the game is already performing well in Japan, and it is currently in soft-launch, it's probably a safe bet to say it would come out in 2016.
