Nexon has released its financial results for its FY16 Q2, ending 2016. It showed revenues down 11% year-on-year to 38.1 billion yen (approx. $377 million). Despite this, the company saw growth year-on-year on mobile in South Korea thanks to both Heroes of Incredible Tales and DomiNations.

Apple loses ground as Android swallows up 97% of India smartphone market in Q2 2016

Android’s share of India's smartphone market has risen to 97% for Q2 2016, according to research firm Strategy Analytics. The figure represents a record quarter for the highest market share of a mobile OS in the country. Apple’s market share nearly halved to 2.4% from 4.5% after the company shipped 800,000 smartphones in India during the period.

DeNA sees small revenue increase as it focuses in on Japan and China

Overall revenues for Japanese developer DeNA have grown 1.5% year-on-year to $378 million. Its games business shrank 7.7% year-on-year to $258 million, however. Due to economic uncertainty across the world, the firm said it will focus its attention on making games for Japan and further growing its business in China.

Matthieu Burleraux named Business Development Director as Playlab snaps up ex-Gumi trio

Hong Kong-based developer Playlab has snapped up a trio of ex-Gumi staff. Matthieu Burleraux has been appointed as Business Development Director, a role he also held at Gumi. Former Gameloft Philippines Executive Procuer Yevgeniy Maiboroda has joined Playlab in the same role, while Charlotte Gailledreau, previously development manager at Gumi Europe, has been named as Producer on the Cubes series.

Cultural clashes are still holding back Chinese developers overseas

A panel of expert Chinese developers and publishers at ChinaJoy 2016 discussed the best and worst practices for globalising a mobile games company. Tyroo CEO Sid Puri said Chinese companies need understand the “cultural nuances” between different countries and regions if they want to stand a chance of success. Yodo1 VP Vincent Diao advised Chinese companies to release their mobile games closer to home and globalise gradually, before going straight to the big global markets like the US.
