A new record for India

Chinese phone manufacturer Xiaomi sells 500,000 units in India in 3 days

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has sold 500,000 units in India in just 3 days following two major sales in the region.

Following the Amazon Great India Festival, Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 became the top selling phone on the marketplace.

Its Redmi 3S also became the top selling product on Flipkart after its Big Billion Days sale.

Planning and hard work

The sales have boosted Xiaomi's position in the region to third place on the market, with an 8.1% share of the market.

"More than six months of rigorous planning and hard work has helped us set a new benchmark in the industry," said Xiaomi's India head Manu Jain.

"Last year we sold more than half a million phones in 30 days during the month of October, and this year we were able to achieve a similar number within three days.

"Based on what we know, no other brand has ever achieved this in India."
