Netmarble profits jump 81% thanks to hugely successful launch of Lineage 2

Netmarble has released its financials for its Q4 FY16 for the three months ending December 31st 2016.

It posted sales of $407.4 million for the quarter, up 36.4% year-on-year. Its operating profit also leapt by 81% year-on-year to $103.2 million.

For the year, Netmarble saw sales of $1.34 billion, up 40.3% year-on-year. Operating profit also rose 31.1% to $256.6 million for the year.

A strong lineage

The developer pointed to the success of mobile titles Seven Nights, Everyone's Marble and Stone Age outside of Korea as reasons for its success. Overseas sales for the company grew 51% in 2016.

Its latest RPG, Lineage 2: Revolution, was also noted despite having only been available for two weeks of the quarter. It generated over $100 million in its first 18 days of release despite being only available in South Korea.

Looking ahead, Netmarble will be releasing MMORPGs based on its Seven Nights and Stone Age IPs. It also has a number of mobile titles in development, including Yokai, Pentastorm, and Icarus M.
