Aniplex bringing an English text translation to the West

Fate/Grand Order to launch in the US and Canada in summer 2017

Fate/Grand Orderdeveloper Aniplex has revealed that it will be launching its popular mobile JRPG in the US and Canada in the summer of 2017.

As reported by RPG Site, the developer revealed the release date during Sakuracon in Seattle. The translation will be restricted to text only, with the Japanese voice acting remaining intact.

The developer is also looking to catch up the Western release to the current edition available in Japan. Fate/Grand Order has already completed its first season of content and is preparing to launch its second soon.

Keeping it seperate

Aniplex will be releasing the Western edition as a totally separate app. This means that fans of the game who have already started playing the Japanese edition will have to start over from scratch if they want to experience the English translation.

Fate/Grand Order has been considered a sleeper hit of sorts for Sony Music Group, which publishes the game. In Japan it out-grossed Pokemon GO 104 days out of 133 on Android after Niantic's game launched in the country.

Despite lacking a global release, it continually performs well. It was the eighth top grossing game in February 2017, according to SuperData Research, while Sensor Tower claimed it was the second-highest grossing game worldwide in Q1 2017.
