Final Fantasy Brave Exvius passes 20 million global downloads in time for first anniversary

Square Enix and gumi's mobile RPG Final Fantasy Brave Exvius has surpassed 20 million downloads since it first launched in Japan in October 2015.

The milestone was revealed as the game approaches the first anniversary of its June 2016 worldwide launch. 2017 is also the 30th anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise overall.

To celebrate its first birthday, Square Enix will be hosting free Brave Exvius "Fan Festas" around the world. The first event will be held in Paris in July before moving on to Taipei, New York, Busan, and Los Angeles.

Big and brave

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius has been a continued success for Square Enix since it first launched. It was pointed to by the company as a key performer in its mobile division in its Q3 FY17 financials, while fellow mobile Final Fantasy game Mobius Final Fantasy went unmentioned.

Brave Exvius has been the subject of high-profile campaigns to draw in audiences, including a collaboration with singer Ariana Grande to celebrate nine million downloads worldwide. The star was added as a character to the game, and her song 'Touch It' was remixed in a Final Fantasy style.
