Com2uS scores $108 million in revenues in Q1 as it eyes eSports future for Summoners War

Three years gone and still plenty of life in the game

Com2uS scores $108 million in revenues in Q1 as it eyes eSports future for Summoners War

Com2uS has released its financials for its Q1 FY17 for the three months ending March 31st 2017.

The company brought in revenues of $107.7 million for the quarter, marking it the sixth consecutive quarter in which the developer generated over $89 million (100 billion Korean won). It also achieved profits of $32.9 million for the quarter.

Breaking this down further, Com2uS noted that $95.5 million of its total earnings were made from overseas sales. This represents 89% of the developer's overall revenues.

War rages on

The main driver of revenue was the studio's flagship game Summoners War. It is expected to surpass $1 billion in revenues in June 2017, having already surpassed $780 million by March 2017.

Com2uS will continue to develop the game, including adding eSports-focused features and Guild Sieges. There will also be a US-only Summoners War tournament held in partnership with Amazon and Twitch in June 2017, before a seperate global tournament for the game is launched.

Summoners War will also receive an MMORPG spin-off in the first half of 2018, along with a film and anime to cross-promote the game. Com2uS will also be launching a Skylanders game in partnership with Activision some time in 2018.
