Netmarble's top-grossing mobile MMORPG Lineage 2 Revolution is set to launch in North America in 2017.
The game launched first in South Korea, making an astonishing $176 million there in just one month. As of June 11th, it became available in a further 11 Asian countries.
It has since become the top grossing game, across both the App Store and Google Play, in Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines and Macau.
Coming West
Netmarble has been preparing for a Western launch with an English language soft launch within Asia.
An experience fully tailored to Western players is being promised by Netmarble, but the Lineage name is not the hot property in the US that it is in South Korea.
Whether such an in-depth MMORPG can hit the grossing heights in North America will also be interesting to see, with many cultural barriers for Netmarble to navigate.
"Our overseas branches are pooling their knowledge and expertise in order to create the best game for the global launch," Game Director Cho ShinHwa told PocketGamer.biz in an interview about the game's development.
