Fate/Grand Order boosts Sony Music's revenues to $1.81 billion

Sony has released its financials for its Q2 FY18 for the three months ending September 30th 2017.

It posted overall revenues of $18.1 billion for the quarter, up 22.1% year-on-year. Profits also grew an enormous 2595.5% to $889 million for the period.

Sony Music, which operates Fate/Grand Order, posted revenues of $1.81 billion for the quarter, up 37.5% year-on-year. Operating income also grew by 96.7% to $284.9 million.

Going grand

Fate/Grand Order was highlighted as the main driver of both sales and income growth. Developer Aniplex has also launched a new game, Magia Record, in August, though it was not noted to have contributed much to Sony Music's revenues.

Sony did not make any mention of its ForwardWorks mobile games studio in its financials. Its game Mingol recently surpassed 4 million downloads, and it released Soma to Umi no Aida during the last quarter.
