Judging starts for the Big Indie Awards at G-STAR

The very best indie developers from around the world will take part in the Big Indie Awards in a live ceremony at Asia’s leading game industry event G-STAR this November.

After a year of hotly contested Big Indie Pitches in locations including London, San Francisco and Helsinki - and with a last round of online entries - judging for the Big Indie Awards is now underway.

We’ve received more than 400 entries that are being considered right now to move onto the next phase of the competition. The panel of expert judges will then look at the 50 best submissions to identify the top 20 shortlist - and we’ll bring you the details of all those games right here.

The three projects that most impress our judges with innovation, originality, implementation and excellence will compete for their share of a prize pool worth $26,000. All three will be flown to Korea for the awards ceremony live on stage from the G-STAR show floor, to find out who will be the overall winner and take home a top prize worth $10,000.

An incredible year

The Big Indie Awards mark the season finale to an incredible year of competition, with the award ceremony taking place at 5pm on November 15th on the B2B floor in the indie zone at G-STAR.

Compered by our very own queen of the contest, Sophia Drake will bring the audience up to date with the highlights of what has been an amazing series of contests in 2018.

She’ll be joined on stage by headline sponsors G-STAR, as well as Gold sponsors Jagex Partners, with all three finalists taking part in a panel debate before the winners are announced.

If you’ll be attending G-STAR, please do come and cheer on the finalists - and join us in raising a glass to the winners, thanks to Jagex with an after-party from 7pm the same night to round off the 2018 Big Indie Pitch season in style.

Local Developer Award still open

General submissions are now closed, but Korean studios are still welcome to enter the Local Developer Award before the end of October.
