Chart of the Week: 120 million-strong LINE is big in Japan, Thailand, Taiwan... and Spain
It took Facebook 54 months to hit 100 million users. For Twitter it was 49 months.

Mobile social messaging service LINE reached that headline figure in 19 months, and is now up to 120 million users, globally.

On the LINE

Operated by LINE Corporation, part of Korean internet giant NHN Corp, LINE is best known for its growth in Japan. It currently has 43 million users there.

But that's not the only country where it's making headlines.

There are 13 million users in Thailand and 12 million in Taiwan, 5 million in Korea and 3 million in Hong Kong.

And one to watch. Expanding outside of south east Asia, there are five million LINE users in Spain.
