Quality Index's top-reviewed iPhone games of the week
Welcome, PG.biz readers, once again to the weekly iPhone Quality index (Qi) games round up, winging its way to you every Friday on these esteemed pages.

If you still aren't familiar with Qi, let me introduce you formally...

Launched in beta by the publishers of Pocket Gamer.biz, Steel Media, Qi trawls the web for game and app reviews from the world's most respected online and print sources.
Qi then applies its own magic formula to each site (such as 148Apps, Macworld, IGN, Slide to Play and TiPB) to establish a single definitive Qi score for each iPhone app and game.

Blood Brothers

Firing onto the Qi charts in the #2 spot, Glu's freemium twin-stick shooter Gun Bros has obtained a brilliant 8.8 average from two reviews, including a bullseye from Slide to Play.

The Slide to Play team was suitably impressed by Gun Bros's artwork, commenting that "the graphics feature fantastic animation and a variety of challenging enemies. Kamikaze soldiers who rush at you and explode, hulking tanks that have to be shot from behind, and heavily armored flamethrowers are just a few of the enemies you'll face."

Sudoku on steroids

In Gun Bros's slipstream on the Qi Top 10 with an 8.8 rating is Axeva's logic-based puzzler Cohabit, which borrows from elements of Sudoku, then ups the ante with an enticing slice of colour-matching.

4,000 unique puzzles on varying board sizes should keep you occupied for a week or four, while anybody getting seriously stuck can call upon the handy hints service.
Cohabit's intriguing scoring mechanic attracted high praise from The Portable Gamer: "Each puzzle loads up with a predetermined score in place. This score starts to tick down...every second of play. You receive points for correct number and color placement, and bonus points go to those who place a correct number and color combination at the same time."

Sonic boom

Armor Games's Hedgehog Launch is the other significant climber on the charts this week, garnering an 8.4 Qi score from a trio of critiques.

Making no apologies to the RSPCA, the developer encourages players to catapult the spiky mammals into near-Earth orbit, amassing coins en route to improve the hedgehog's aerial abilities.

If you happened to enjoy that little-known physics-based title from Rovio - about disgruntled avian or something - Hedgehog Launch could well be worth a fling.

You can get the up-to-date information about which games are reviewing best over at the Quality index.
