Pocket Gamer Connects London will kick off the 2016 in style on 18-19 January.

Tickets are still available.

So to give you a hint at what you can expect, we're shining the spotlight onto our speakers to provide a deeper look at the personalities who will be taking the stage.

  • Carly Drew is the EU digital marketing manager at Wizards of the Coast and she will be talking in the Monetise, Retain, Acquire track.

PocketGamer.biz: Tell us about your company's role in the mobile games industry.

Carly Drew: Wizards of the Coast originally made physical games, such as Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering.

However, staying at the forefront of the gaming industry was key, so we quickly evolved to become the premier digital trading card game publishers with the introduction of Magic Duels and the best-selling Duels of the Planeswalkers series.

2015 was another hectic year for the industry, what were most important developments?

The most important development in mobile gaming was a cultural shift - mobile games moved away from just being 'casual gaming', and took a giant leap towards the more serious and mainstream.

On a personal level, the release of Magic Duels and Magic: The Gathering - Puzzle Quest (in partnership with D3 Go!) were also huge highlights!

PG Connects kicks off 2016, give us a prediction or two of what we can expect to see in the new year?

2016 is going to be the year of immersive experience!

From the crowd-funded Night Terrors survival horror game to VR headsets - and even a little something that we have up our sleeve - you can expect mobile gaming to lead the charge when it comes to submerging players into lifelike new worlds.
