A new Helsinki games studio has opened, and it’s claiming the title of “world’s first wearable games studio.”
The Everywear Games founding team is composed of veterans from Remedy, Digital Chocolate, and Rovio: CEO Aki Järvilehto, CTO Mika Tammenkoski and executive producer Markus Tuppurainen.
So far the fledgling studio has received undisclosed investment from Lifeline Ventures and Sunstone Capital.
New frontier
“We’re creating games which have been designed for smartwatches,” reads the Everywear Games ethos.
“That means original, ambitious productions that will be available starting in 2015.”
The news comes in the same month that Apple unveiled the full details of its upcoming Apple Watch, set to launch in April.
With the wearable gaming market still in its very early stages, Everywear Games is aiming to be the industry early bird with the slogan “it’s time for a new kind of gaming.”
