Pocket Gems looking to bolster core games team with Lead Game Designer, Art Lead, and more

Pocket Gems, the San Francisco-based mobile studio, has been developing mobile games since its formation in 2009, and was one of the early pioneers of social and casual gameplay in the free-to-play space.

But now, following a $60 million investment from Tencent in May 2015 and the release of its graphically rich real-time strategy game War Dragons, Pocket Gems' focus is on "AAA-quality, 3D game experiences."

Horses for courses

This new focus inevitably comes with new demands on the team, and as such Pocket Gems is currently advertising for a number of vacant positions in 'Core Games' roles - as distinct from what it calls 'Casual' or 'Broad Appeal Games' roles.

The open positions include Senior / Lead Game Designer, Art Director, Senior 3D VFX Artist, Narrative Director, and many more.

There are also a number of openings in 'Casual Games' at the company, including Creative Director, Senior UI Artist, and Product Manager.

There's a substantial scattering of roles outside of development, too, with more vacancies in Accounting, Business, and Human Resources.

All of the roles are based in the firm's San Francisco headquarters.

Features Editor

Matt is really bad at playing games, but hopefully a little better at writing about them. He's Features Editor for PocketGamer.biz, and has also written for lesser publications such as IGN, VICE, and Paste Magazine.
