Munich-based Chimera Entertainment has hired Goodgame Studio's former Senior Director of Development Larry Mellon as its new Technical Product Director.

Mellon is a 15-year veteran of games who has worked in numerous roles across the industry. He started at EA in 2000 working on The Sims and has since co-founded Emergent Game Technologies and held roles at Kixeye and Goodgame.

"It was wonderful to meet the Chimera team and I’m delighted to join them. We share a similar iterative design approach to both game play and technology," said Mellon.

"They already have a solid infrastructure in place, so I'll be able to really focus on how technology can both improve the quality of games, as well as making them even more fun to play."

Exceeding expectations

Christian Kluckner, Managing & Operations Director at Chimera Entertainment, added: "We're always looking to grow our team with experienced people, and with Larry we found someone who exceeded our expectations.

"His broad knowledge and skills in the field of gaming technologies are rare, and everybody here is excited to have him on board. I'm personally looking forward to bringing Chimera to the next level and working with Larry on the biggest game Chimera has done yet."

Mellon is one of a number of staff to leave Goodgame in the last year. The developer had another round of layoffs in January 2017 that saw 200 employees lose their jobs.
