ESL hires new CMO and CRO to push into next stage of global growth

The ESL has hired a new Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Revenue Officer as it prepares for its next stage of growth in the eSports world.

Rodrigo Samwell takes the CMO role, and will be responsible for product marketing, brand strategy, communications, innovation, and more. He joins from Vodafone, where he was Group Head of Marketing Strategy.

Martin Hubert is the new CRO, tasked with growing ESL's revenues across the globe. He was previously Vice-President and CEO of nugg.ad, a subsidiary of Zalando Media Solutions.

An exciting time

"This is an exciting time for the global eSports industry with ESL at the heart of this massive ecosystem," said Ralf Reichert, Global CEO and President, ESL.

"These new executive hires reflect the company's global focus to better service our growing roster of partners, publishers and sponsors, and add expertise in key areas such marketing and sales."

While eSports is still largely the domain of PC and console, ESL has been making moves into mobile. Most recently, it partnered with Super Evil Megacorp to produce its Vainglory Spring Championship.
