VC firm Atomico doubles down on games industry investment with Alexis Bonte appointment

Venture capital firm Atomico plans to increase its investment in the games industry following the appointment of eRepublik Labs CEO Alexis Bonte to the role of venture partner.

Bonte, who previously served as executive in residence at the company, will advise on new investments in France, Spain, Portugal and Eastern Europe.

As well as driving growth in games investment, he’ll also be involved in the blockchain and travel sectors.

The news follows Atomico’s investment in London developer Bossa Studios back in September 2017, where Bonte currently serves on the board of directors.

Games expansion

“At Atomico we take investing in fun seriously”, said Atomico Partner and games investment lead Mattias Ljungman.

“Our aim is to offer games start-ups we back a unique competitive advantage by bringing our strong industry experience from past investments in Supercell, Rovio and more recently Bossa Studios, combined with Alexis’s unique mix of being a successful games studio founder with ongoing best in class operational expertise.

"We look forward to finding and helping accelerate the growth of the best and most ambitious founding teams in the games industry."

Alexis Bonte is speaking at Pocket Gamer Connects London 2018 today on the Investment Trends Power Panel.
