European law firm Fieldfisher has brought in video games lawyer Brian Chadwick as a corporate partner and member of its cross-departmental media and entertainment practice.

In his new role he’ll be responsible for developing a new corporate practice at the company focused on the games industry.

Chadwick will work with joint head of corporate Andrew Blankfield and head of media and entertainment Tom Guida.

Gaming experience

Chadwick joins from Cooley LLP where he acted as special counsel since March 2016.

His other past roles include general counsel and director of games publisher Miniclip, and head of the London corporate at law firm Michelmores.

“We’ve been working for companies at the intersection of creativity, commerce and technology for years, which is exactly where video games companies operate every day; so hiring Brian was a natural fit,” said Guida.

“We will continue to support those types of companies through our top-tier media and entertainment, technology, IP and corporate practices throughout Europe, and are very excited for what the future holds.”

Chadwick was recently a speaker at Pocket Gamer Connects London 2018 on the ‘Investment Trends Power Panel’.
