What you will do
Epic Games is looking for a Senior Technical Animator passionate about expressive character movement to join the Cinematics team. Within this talented team of seasoned and emerging artists, you will collaborate with an internal team while also working with external partners. You will directly contribute to the creation of large-scale trailers related to Fortnite and other projects within Epic's intellectual properties. Joining this team means solving problems, collaborating with other artists, and continuously improving models, movements, and tools. The core of this role involves creating rigging structures , optimizing production processes, and developing tools.
What you will be responsible for
- Create the articulation structures ( rigs ) for characters, accessories, and vehicles
Configure elements in Unreal Engine 5, including tissue simulations, physics, and visual blueprints . - Collaborating with modelers and animators to ensure a smooth production flow and the delivery of high-quality assets
- Develop and improve production process tools in collaboration with engine and project managers, in order to continuously optimize internal tools
- Supervise the technical animation work for cinematic trailers, both in-house and outsourced.
- Provide support and optimization solutions to the animation team, including
- performance improvements, engine stability, bug fixes related to control structures and constraints, and optimization of working methods.
- Design selection interfaces for the animation team
What we are looking for
- Extensive experience in creating joint structures in Unreal Engine
- Portfolio demonstrating the creation of articulation structures for a variety of characters, bipeds and creatures, including faces
- A keen eye for aesthetic detail, particularly regarding the distortion and physical movements of the characters.
- Good knowledge of the art production process in Unreal Engine 5
- A positive person with excellent written communication and teamwork skills.
Strong problem-solving skills - Experience in developing processes and tools related to character creation
