Bebo launches Bebo Open Mobile
For many games developers, increasing integration with social networking sites is one of the key trends for 2009.

Bebo, the 50-million strong social network, has just made that an easier resolution for mobile games developers to fulfill, with the launch of the Bebo Open Mobile programme.

The Open Mobile programme sees the rollout of three tools for mobile content companies:

  • Bebo Open Mobile Internet Helps you rapidly deploy features on the Bebo mobile site, including customised navigation, mobile advertising support and enhanced statistics.

  • Bebo Open Mobile Messaging Enables scalable and feature rich two-way messaging directly to Bebo Open Mobile partners through the messaging interfaces most used by Bebo members.

  • Bebo Open Mobile Development API A mobile development API toolkit to assist in the creation of innovative applications, widgets and other interfaces to directly serve the Bebo community.

Bebo also says it will work directly with operators, handset manufacturers and mobile software developers to help them promote, distribute and monetise mobile social media.

“The Bebo Open Mobile suite of tools is designed to move mobile communication and user relationships forward by delivering a simple and more ubiquitous experience to users,” says Sean Kane, global head of mobile, Bebo.

“A rapid and global shift towards mobile social networking consumption is in progress and Bebo is committed to leading the way.”

More announcements regarding Bebo Open Mobile partners and initiatives are expected throughout 2009.
