Overseen by the International Game Developers Association, the Global Game Jam is an event in which you have 48 hours to make a game.
Launched in 2009, there were 54 jams in 23 countries, and 1,650 people got involved.
There are already 75 events planned for 2010 however, and one of them will be in Bristol, thanks to the folks at Mobile Pie.
"The Global Game Jam is a manic experiment in creativity which ideal for students, up coming developers and those just wanting to try something a little outside of what they usually create," says Mobile Pie's creative producer Will Luton.
"You have no idea what is going to happen and what games are going to come out at the end of it, which is why we jumped on the chance of helping out and facilitating a location, right here in the heart of Bristol."
The Jam will take place between 29th and 31st January 2010.
As well as Mobile Pie, there will be plenty of industry experts to guide and advise. Indeed some of the Pocket Gamer team may be prised out of their garrets for the occasion.
"It's a great opportunity for those involved to network, get noticed or chat games with people as knowledgeable as they are passionate. Plus, there will probably be a beer or two going about after the event," points out Luton.
You can find out more at the GGJ site, and more about the Bristol event here.
