As part of his state of market talk about the mobile game industry, Comscore lead analyst Alistair Hill, highlighted the massive impact of Facebook in terms of driving European mobile internet usage during 2009.

"Social networking accounts for almost all of the increase we've seen in mobile internet use," Hill said.

"I'd like to be able to tell you how much of the mobile internet Facebook accounts for; it's a massive amount, but we can't formally announce the figures until next month."

Comscore will be launching its new mobile internet analytics service, with is produced in conjunction with data from the GSMA and European operators, on 4th February

"I think there are some big opportunities for mobile Facebook use in terms of combining mobile Facebook usage with mobile gaming, which is something we haven't seen much of yet," Hill commented

Comparing figures for the mobile and PC use of Facebook, mobile users spend around 24 minutes daily on Facebook spread across 3.3 visits per day, compared to 28 minutes daily across 2.3 visits for PC use.
