Ideaworks strengthens exec team with new CEO Niall Murphy
Having split into its game development and middleware development parts, and completed a new funding round, UK mobile company Ideaworks3D has also tweaked its management.

Longtime CEO and president Alex Caccia hands over his CEO role to ex-The Cloud executive Niall Murphy.

Murphy will head up the day-to-day operational side of the business; a role he's effectively been performing since coming onboard as part of the funding round.

Divide and conquer

"Ideaworks3D is growing and developing rapidly with strong performance and accomplishments for both the studio business and the Airplay platform. With these developments, we've decided to increase the breadth and depth of our management team," the company said in a statement.

"Alex Caccia has handed over the CEO role to Niall, and will be focusing his energy on continuing to drive the company's commercial strategy, corporate development and major deals and transactions."

Part owned by chip designer ARM, Ideaworks3D has developed games for the likes of Konami and EA Mobile, as well as licensing its cross-platform Airplay technology to large mobile publishers.

Most recently, the Ideaworks Game Studio side of the business has had success on the iPhone App Store, developing Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies for Activision and Backbreaker Football for NaturalMotion.
