Also releases iPad SDK

With its HTML5 demo in Harbor Master HD, AdMob goes head-to-head with iAd
Despite Google being confirmed as its new owner, mobile ad network AdMob is still working hard on Apple platforms.

It's just rolled out its iPad SDK from beta into general release. Technically though AdMob has actually rolled iPad into its general iPhone OS SDK alongside iPhone and iPod touch.

The new SDK supports two ad formats in native iPad applications: text and tile ads and image ads. Both of these formats are available in the three IAB standard ad sizes: 300x250, 728x90, and 468x60 pixels.

AdMob says the formats contain the same 35 characters as its standard CPC text ads and are easy to create within the AdMob interface. The text is automatically re-formatted into the three ad sizes depending on which size ads publishers have implemented.

Gunning for iAd

And looking to the future - and no doubt with a competitive nudge towards Apple's forthcoming iAd platform - AdMob also gave a sneak peak in terms of what its future HTML5-based ads might look like on iPad.

Significantly, it's highlighted the possibilities within Imangi Studios' Harbor Master HD; one of the most popular free iPad games.
