Bango claims BlackBerry represents the best volume opportunity for US mobile ads
The latest statistics released by analytics and billing specialist Bango suggest mobile web browsing on Android handsets in the US is surging, with its volume growing by 400 percent between the first two quarters of 2010.

Bango, which measures mobile visits across a sample of websites, claims much of Android's momentum has been gained at Apple's expense.

The firm's numbers state the volume of growth on Apple devices was 13 percent across the same period, which actually represents a 16 percent drop in iOS's mobile web market share.

The wonder of RIM

It's BlackBerry, however, that remains top dog in the US, with RIM's handsets accounting for 37 percent of all visits to mobile websites across Q2 1010 according to Bango. That represents a 20 percent volume increase over the previous quarter.

"Even with the advent of Apple's new iAd platform and Google’s acquisition of AdMob, BlackBerry still represents the best volume opportunity for mobile advertising in the USA", said Bango CEO Ray Anderson

"Apple appears to be losing ground to the latest Android handsets from HTC, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Samsung, showing the slowest quarterly growth in web browsing."





Android on the up

Indeed, Bango claims HTC and Sony Ericsson smartphones demonstrated the largest volume growth of in the quarter, with an increase of 162 percent and 148 percent respectively.

As a result, HTC's market share grew by 94 percent between quarters, with Sony Ericsson also up 84 percent.

LG, Motorola and Samsung saw their market shares grow by 48 percent, 45 percent and 26 percent respectively.
